Some 3 months ago Bob Chapin and I made a little film set to Walking Machine. It was a lot of fun. I spun the roué cyr wheel during this period with as much speed as I could muster. For many months after I learned to spin really really fast that's all I wanted to do. This video represents, for me, the culmination of that period.

The honorable Governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal, is apparently a frigging moron.
1. When I should be working I do things like this.
2. I stole a book from jail.
3. I love children and those who play like children. Adults usually bore me to tears.
4. I have done terribly stupid things which have put the lives of those around me in danger and it still bothers me to this day.
5. I am all about the delayed gratification.
6. I collect stamps, books, music, and people.
7. If I had my way I would be nude most of the time.
8. The things other people find hard I find easy.
9. The things other people find easy I find terribly difficult.
10. I detest the human race almost as much as I love people.
11. I have considered killing a person and considered it a sound decision at the time. Which frightens me.
12. I have roller skated naked in public places except for tube socks with red stripes on them. I don't do that enough.
13. I have had sex in a graveyard twice. I am looking forward to the third time.
14. I have been homeless and lost it all - my mind, my dignity, my family, my friends, my belongings.
15. I have spent an evening with Bjork and we got along famously, then she left town on tour and we never spoke again.
16. I have spent an evening with Rob Halford and we got along famously, then he left on tour and we never spoke again.
17. I once embarrassed myself terribly with a prostitute who was my client.
18. I once was fired by a prostitute while in Sunday mass. This was a different prostitute.
19. I once escaped the car of a sexual predator by launching myself from his car at full speed on a city boulevard.
20. I have never gambled nor been to Las Vegas.
21. I am afraid of the mentally ill and of being unable to move.
22. I love to dance with hippies.
23. I am happiest collaborating.
24. My writing was censored twice.
25. I have designed condoms.
Have you ever done something you are pretty sure noone else has ever done? As I get older I realize more and more how difficult such a thing would be. People have been here pretty much forever and in that time we have developed so many ways to amuse ourselves and others. Surely somewhere in that history of finding things to do someone sometimes comes up with something new. Well that's what I am interested in exploring.
I'm a big fan of esoteric athletics because it's a major part of how I amuse myself. I'm what some call a sort of circus freak. I spin the roue simple and swing on the travelling rings. If you are like most people you don't even know what it is you just read. If you are regular reader around here you are already aware of the travelling rings but probably know little of the wheel as I have rarely mentioned it.
Well all of that is going to change. A few months ago I got an iPod Touch so I could lay in bed at night and watch Youtube videos of esoteric athletics. And now I'm going to start sharing all of this with my readers. In addition I have a lot of stuff already written on my own activities which I'm going to be sharing. I have been managing a regular roue simple get together in Venice now for almost a year on Sunday mornings. On any given Sunday as many as 6 or 7 folk may show up to learn to spin and to watch us crazy kids with our new fangled wheels. The numbers of people are growing. The interest in this activity and others continues to grow.
So stay tuned. Up next...where did this roue simple wheel come from and why has it taken over my life?
I am cooking a pot roast and have a very bad cold. I stole the kiddo's laptop so I can lay in bed and work out how to integrate twitter, facebook, and typepad.
"I drank some ferret sperm one time, I enjoyed every little swimmer that drizzled down my throat."
I went to barcampla6 today and sat through a couple of sessions.
One involved a presentation of Empower Thyself by Alex Peake. Potentially interesting idea but I must admit I'm not sold. Perhaps I am just not the target audience. Either way though I checked out the site and it is interesting in a way that deserves further scanning. One particular thing which grates immediately is the site is very dark. Alex made references to gaming throughout the presentation. I'm not sure the site isn't designed specifically for gamers. The marquee on the site which appears to be of a bunch of people about to burn down the city might no go over very well with those outside of the gaming community. I'd wager the average activist, err doer, might see the dark front page of this site and leave immediately.
More interestingly I sat through a talk with Francisco Dao on his four most important steps towards getting a date. I immediately alighted on his talk as I have been doing some work recently towards the dating syndicate and have been mulling stuff of dating. The talk was informative and interesting (although nothing to do with my interests). I found the comments from the women present to be more interesting though.
I'm pretty sure such presentations should be given in school to kids coming up. I would imagine a basic hygiene, how to dress, how to talk to people kind of primer in the 8th grade through high school would be a really helpful addition to our school systems.
All of that being said Barcamp was interesting. I think I'll go back next year. Maybe by then I'll be ready to present on the dating syndicate.
