Koji needs to be stuffed.
So the offended gymnastics "officials" have banned 3 athletes from the sport. What a stupid and trivial turn of events. I was a gymnast for a decade. It is an extremely introspective sport. The concentration needed to maintain form in all parts of your body can be exhausting and tends to dampen the sexual energy in the sport at times. But these athletes are fit and very sexy. The effort to rein in this sexual energy of these young adults is just plain sad. More gymnasts should do adult films and/or show off their well made flesh to the camera's eye. This prissy attitude from "officials" is the obscene part of this equation.
In the early teenage years when the girls begin to develop it quickly becomes apparent which girls will develop the body of a lithe gymnast and which will become more busty. I remember how disheartening it was to these girls who were developing very full hips and breasts because as their bodies changed shape they were being forced out of the sport they love. I overheard numerous conversations along these lines and I'll never forget the sadness that came through. By the time the girls have entered highschool most of the heavier girls gave up against rolling the boulder up the hill anymore and simply quit the sport.
Double Olympic gold medallist and five-time world champion Lavinia Milosovici and former team mates Corina Ungureanu and Claudia Presecan stripped for the film.
They performed gymnastic routines naked on apparatus such as the beam, for the film which was broadcast by a private cable network.
So these adult women are preforming routines and tricks on equipment in the nude. These retired gymnasts do such a thing and the sport throws a fit and denies the three the ability to coach or be involved administratively in the sport for five years. Next thing you know the sport will pull a baseball and deny the retired gymnast her gold medals or erase her from the annals of the sport like was done to Pete Rose. I hope that those gay porn flicks (iron cross/oral sex sells well among the literati - you haven't lived till you've seen anal giants ; ) never come to light. It could ignite many more gymnastic sex scandals.
Only bright part of this I can see is that apparently Romania has not been denied the ability to participate in the sport internationally. Yeah team! Or have they?
Bela Karolyi, the famous Romanian coach, has apparently defended the ladies for their actions but that hasn't stopped Perescan from leaving her job over the situation. Bela is correct. If someone has such skill and has made the effort and sacrifices to be a world class athlete the sport can only suffer from denying such a person the opportunity to coach and mentor young gymnasts.

The disgrace the three Romanian gymnasts brought to their sport, their country, their fellow gymnasts and to the fans of this wonderful sport is obvious and there's nothing much to debate on this subject. Of course, they have personal liberty, & freedom to choose what they can do with their lives, & that includes posing nude & acting in adult movies as well. But one should remember that there are a million ways to pose nude, and there are a million themes on which nude photos & films could be taken. But the fact that the theme of them 'performing the sport in nude', was taken to show their nudity is outrageous and highly disgraceful ( Photos or video of them on a beach side would'nt have been so disappointing). It clearly shows that the girls were over-exploited & dishonoured just for some money. The pictures of them nude with the medals around their neck is something that brings shame to the sport, to their country and to THOSE WHO GAVE THE MEDALS!. It cant get more dis-graceful than this(why should the medals come into the picture????????and the sport??). It's really dis-heartening to see world champions & olympic medal winners stooping down to the level of mere porn stars, just for some money, throwing away the honour the sport has given them.
Yes, they become rich by doing so, but at what cost? The medals, fame, glory & honour are not their personal achievements alone. The Romanian government, various sponsors should have spent money on them, coaches would have spent years coaching them, fans, family and friends would have spent their time, money and energy lending their support for them, but in the end -alas!!!! there they are with the medals around their necks posing nude for a Japanese magazine. All these people have together raised them to glory, but they instead used their fame to sell themselves for a better price,(would they have got the same price for their photos & videos if they were merely 'Romanian girls' and not 'Champions from Romania'? The price that was fixed was not for their bodies but for their title ) Truly, they had NO regard to those people who had lifted them up to fame. This would create a bad opinion about Romanian gymnasts-people who know this would view the gymnasts as mere objects of sex with a price tag on them(Hei, look at that one, how much would she cost?) (I'm sorry about that comment but that's exactly how porn film makers view them). Clever people would know that TRUE freedom lies not in being able to ACCEPT such offers, but in being able to REJECT such offers. They have not only brought shame to the very sport that gave them honour but also brought in a potential threat to fellow gymnasts (Many more such porn movie makers may try to approach young Romanian gymnasts).
The officials were correct in banning them from coaching. How can people-however skilled they might be- who dont know the value of honour & glory & dont have respect for the sport but keep money above all these things, be allowed to coach young minds who are the future of gymnastics in Romania?

Were not the original olympics done in the nude?
Posted by: Bob | August 17, 2004 at 10:37 PM
In fact, does not the Latin root of gymnast & gymnastics come from the word Gymno meaning naked?

Why were there charged with stuff? Its not right, its there own body, why aren't they allow to show it off for money? I am seriously pissed off, and I am an American, those women should fight for there rights. Its not right, that they can't participate in the olympics, because they showed of skin?????????
What is this world coming to, when nudity is a bad thing, I don't get it. And the only reason they did it was to make extra dough, so whats wrong with that? Jesus christ Romanians are even rich, and aren't paid well even when there olympic people, they too need food. Sick world when we punish people for NUDITY? I was born naked, god doesn't seem to have a problem with nudity, why do people?

About athletes being photographed showing their amazing bodies plain and simple to me is not only far away from porn, their bodies've been sculptured to perfection so we're talking about admirable pieces of ART. It can involve some kind of erotism but in fact, the whole olympic games thing is helplessly invaded by the inner erotism of sports.
Anyone who thinks that a naked body is closer to erotism than a deressed one with a tight sport suit is mistaken, as well as Mr. Koji Takizawa who thinks that a plain nude photograph of a gimnast is a dirty thing that disgraces Gymnastics.

i think the romanian naked gymnasts' pictures are beautiful, artistic and inspiring >more top notch (woman) athletes should be pictured in such a way, more power to them!

Hmmm. I can not see my previous post typed in russian. Anyway.
Thanks Bob - now I know what word gymnastics meaning! :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymnastic#Etymology
"...γυμνός (gymnos), "naked", because athletes exercised and competed in the nude."
So these romanian gymnasts is MORE CLOSE to roots of this sport.
Ancient greeks has higher level of morality and they not afraid nudity. They rather fight with political lie but today everything in the world stand on head: nudity = immorality etc...
