This is a good shot of something interesting. Notice my left hand has in it the chain. According to the judges that is a bad move. But I disagree. When I began developing the pushback combination mount I realized, because it's part of the move, that over swinging the ring and using the change to redirect my momentum is a very powerful tool for making even more impressive tricks. I wrote here about developing a new trick I call throwing arcs. The chain grab pictured here is an example of something similar.
The impetus of my skills are forcing me to explore ways to use the chain. No matter what the judges may say. I am convinced I have to learn to use equally the ring, the chain, and the pole. There was a rupture on Sunday between the swingers assembled and the judges. This is an example of growing gap between the needs of the swingers and those of the judges who do not swing or have any experience swinging. The reality is we are developing a completely new sport and the rules of gymnastics do not apply.
