Chantal Therrien & I built this fun little skewer spin as part of our calibration and get to vibe with each other party the other day.
Saturday April 5th, 2014 we will be teaching a class together at Westside Acro. Chantal Therrien from AcroYoga Montreal will be joining Christopher Filkins in the studio this week as we explore a practice of relationships and a conversation on same.
Why can acro be so challenging for some yoga teachers or deep yoga practitioners? What is it about the practice which requires us to be open, communicative, and to take responsibility for our own stuff?
Chris & Chantel will be exploring some of these questions as we learn how to become fully responsibility for our half of the practice. This week we will be using the original AY machine called 4 step as a doorway to exploring these questions. We will be exploring light flyers. Engaged flyers. Bases who don't control but who flow. We will look at tempo. We will break down calibrations and exercises to help you understand better the dance, the relationship between base and flyer in our acro practices.
If you are a yoga teacher this class will serve you very well. We encourage yoga instructors to come to this class, even if you have no existing acro practice, as the concepts we discuss will be key to understanding the difference between yoga as you know it and acro.
Class is $15 and lasts 1.5 hours followed by the best open jam in Los Angeles until 10:30 at night. Come play and explore and learn more about yourself and your practice.
This is a special treat to have such an accomplished teacher and flyer in our studio. We hope you can make it! Bring yourself, bring a mat, bring some water, and a partner if you got em. (If you don't you will find someone in class)
Please come!
