Blaming Clinton

All of this stuff about blaming Clinton for 9/11 is so much nonsense and I do hope that all of those who spout these lies come to regret them someday. That being said there is one huge mistake Clinton made which had, in my opinion, a very pernicious influence on the unfolding of the events of 9/11 and the subsequent glorious war on Iraq. Bill Clinton hired George Tenet in 1997. Clinton wasn't powerful enough to put Anthony Lake in the position and capitulated to the Republicans in Congress by naming Tenet to the post. At a time when our nation deserved a Director of Central Intelligence with skill and the power of leadership we got a political hack. One of my fondest hopes is that George Tenet sleeps fitfully out of guilt over his Presidential Medal of Freedom. But just as that is true I hope Bill Clinton shares in that guilt.
