I don't know. I don't see the productivity in it. Tit for tat. What's accomplished by that? The kids are still bickering in the school yard. I'd love to see a real statesman step up and offer a thoughtful, constitutional solution to a complicated social and legal mess. I'd like to see better dialogue resulting in proposed long-term solutions that address not only evolving social norms but that honor the long standing custom of marriage.
This just further serves to polarize. That's not only destructive to any hope of solution, but it's getting pretty boring if you ask me.
No because if this is going to be decided in a court, the question of same sex marriage, then the logical conclusions of every position has to be taken into account. Until the courts and the law DOES NOT take into consideration the question of procreation in this question this is a legitimate avenue to force the issue. The issue is going to be forced whether your real statesman steps up or not.
The “long standing custom of marriage” of which you speak comes in a myriad of forms, some legally recognized and some not, regardless of sexual orientation.
I agree it’s unduly polarizing and if anyone asked me I don’t even understand why it’s an issue. It seems as natural as the blue sky that anyone can get married in whatever damn form they choose for as long they damn well please for whatever damn reason they choose and it is no damn business of mine. In my humble opinion anyone who doesn’t hold that position is an idiot and needs to take their nose out of my bedroom before I take it off.
But the issue is not going away and no knight statesmen will mount the stage to save us from tit for tat because that’s the way it works in the courts.
